Fair Director Returns to Flying

Fairbanks, Alaska: Tanana Valley State Fair Executive Director, Blake Matray has announced he will return to the aviation career field.

The former U.S. Air Force and Alaska Air National Guard Pilot has accepted a job offer from a nationwide Air Cargo Airline. “This position is a dream flying job for me and I couldn't let it slip away," Matray said.

Under Matray's leadership, this year's Tanana Valley State Fair saw increased excitement and enthusiasm and included new features such as discounted online ticket sales through Groupon, a more robust entertainment lineup and an increased social media presence. Matray was instrumental in bringing Little River Band to the 2018 Fair.

“My only disappointment is not being able to work with my terrific staff on the next Fair. Most of them were new but now that they have experience, I fully expect them to produce a fantastic 2019 Fair for Fairbanks next year." Matray stated.

The TVSFA Board of Directors will form a Search Committee to find the next Executive Director and they plan to start accepting applications immediately. “While we're sorry to see Blake move on, we know he loves flying and this is a great opportunity for him and his family.” said TVSFA Board President Steve Rice.

Matray and his family will continue to reside in the Fairbanks area for the immediate future where they enjoy being members of the Interior Community.

The TVSFA is already making plans for the 2019 Fair next August. For the most up to date information on next year's fair and employment opportunities, please visit www.tananavalley.org or the organization’s social media pages.
